Beetje is an app for learning beginner (A1) Dutch. This policy explains what data the app handles, why, and your choices. The developer of Beetje is the data controller. You can reach us at mohammadr.javadi@gmail.com.
In short: Beetje has no ads, no third‑party analytics or tracking, and never sells your data. You can use most of the app without an account. If you sign in, we store your learning progress so it syncs across your devices — and you can delete it all from inside the app at any time.
Account (only if you sign in):
AI features (stories and examples) are available only when you are signed in, because they run through our server under a fair‑use limit.
Learning data (to sync across your devices):
Fair‑use counters: daily counts of AI and text‑to‑speech requests, used only to enforce usage limits. These are never used for advertising.
Abuse counters: to stop one person running up the cost of the AI and speech features for everyone, we count requests per network address. We do not store the address itself, only a salted hash of it. That hash is not linked to your account and we do not attempt to reverse it, but we hold the salt, so we describe it as pseudonymous rather than anonymous. These counters are deleted within about three days.
The app does not ask you for, and cannot use, your own API keys.
Beetje is not directed at children under 13 (under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
We keep your data while your account is active. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data — including any photos — at any time in the app: Profile → Delete account. The only thing that survives is the pseudonymous abuse counter described above, which holds no account information and expires by itself within about three days. If you cannot access the app, email mohammadr.javadi@gmail.com and we will delete it for you.
Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR in the EU/EEA), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact mohammadr.javadi@gmail.com.
Signing in uses Sign in with Apple only — Beetje never sees or stores a password. Sign‑in sessions use signed tokens that can be revoked. All traffic between the app and our servers uses HTTPS.
If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and change the "Last updated" date above.
